• Possible improvement for missing artwork with Apple Music. Sometimes Apple Music will simply refuse to give the artwork, you'll see a music note instead. But this improves it a tiny bit.
• Improve situation with Location services, the permission prompt should clarify why it's needed, and if it's not enabled in the various features that needs it (Weather by location, Time adaptation, WiFi filtering) it will let you know what to do now, not just silently error.
• Add warning on advanced source management about the effects of disabling macOS 26 default source.

• Aerial is now distributed as an AppExtension for perfect compaibility with macOS Sonoma and Tahoe. No more black screens bugs or other annoyances that have plagued previous versions of all third party screensavers to date : Aerial uses the same (private) API that Apple uses nowadays for it's screensavers
• Wallpaper mode with auto-pause : by default plays 4K 240fps videos at a slower pace on desktop, pausing when your windows cover your screens to save gpu, and transitionning to/from screensaver.

What's new :

• Live feeds, finally. Aerial now handles three kind of live feeds that can be used for showing your local cameras if that's what you want, assuming they support some form of open streaming protocol (not all "cloud" cameras do, or you may need a 3rd party bridge for this). What is supported :
  • HLS/HTTP : This is natively supported by Aerial, and the best thing to use if available
  • RSTP : Second best, this however requires you have ffmpeg installed on your Mac.
  • yt-dlp streams : This requires yt-dlp, obviously. yt-dlp is provided as is, and is likely to often break
• Desktop mode <-> Screensaver continuity. It works as expected all the time ? I probably missed some cases but it's very close, you should see near seamless transitions from all modes, with speed ramp up/down if you use slow desktop playback. It's a cool effect !
• Add independent wind unit choice, and introduce m/s unit for it.
• Fix unlimited cache not being unlimited
• Bunch of other fixes

• Add overlay rotation setting, you can have overlays rotate to alleviate burn-in if you are concerned by this.
• Add a tiny spinner when you have advanced screen detection on. If you don't have two monitors of the same size, you should disable this option in Displays (at the bottom). It's now off by default for new installs. I may change this in the future or make it optional.
• Fix nightshift not correctly triggering in the extension. It properly uses the cached values now

• "My videos" feature is part of the video browser now, it fits better there than in settings.

It's annoying, but this is the last time this should happen. Various fixes I tried (including the Register button) that works for other kinds of appex don't work for ScreenSaver appexes.
  • If it says registered, launch the screensaver manually once. If you get a black screen, exit and you may see a system warning that "this app has changed since you last used it". This seems to be a security warning triggered by the name change. Allow it and things will work again. Sorry for both inconveniences, that's why those are alphas 😅
• New Overlay editor. You will need to reconfigure your overlays entirely as the new system is not backward compatible. Includes a visual editor where you can drag and drop and configure your settings. Expect changes and bugs. You can find it in the new settings.
