Aerial license
Aerial is open-source software, released under the MIT license . © Guillaume Louel and contributors. The full license text is available in the source repository.
Apple's videos
The macOS/tvOS aerial videos played by Aerial are produced by Apple and fetched directly from Apple's content-delivery network at first play, on each user's machine. Aerial does not host, mirror, or redistribute Apple's videos.
Community expansions
Each community expansion ships with its own license, declared in its manifest. Installing an expansion is opt-in. The featured expansion from Joshua Michaels & Hal Bergman is licensed under the terms at jetsoncreative.com/aeriallicense .
Privacy
Aerial includes no telemetry, no analytics, no crash reporting of any kind. The app
makes outbound HTTPS requests to: Apple's CDN (for videos), this site's
appcast.xml (for Sparkle update checks), and the
expansions catalog when you open the Expansions browser. None of these requests carry user
identifiers. Some optional features (Weather forecast via OpenWeather, Youtube streaming
via yt-dlp, etc) may individually track you in some limited form, we recommend you check
their respective privacy policies for more details.
Trademarks
Apple, macOS, tvOS, Apple TV, and Mac are trademarks of Apple Inc., registered in the U.S. and other countries. Aerial is a third-party project unaffiliated with Apple.
Thanks
Aerial uses Sparkle for auto-updates and KeyboardShortcuts by Sindre Sorhus for the global hotkeys feature. The original project was started by John Coates in 2015 — see the historical repository for the early commit history.
